Produced by the Czech Mint, this popular collection began in 2017 and now celebrates its 6th year of release. In the Czech Republic, lions are considered important symbols of sovereignty and have been present on the countrys heraldry since the 12th century.

The use of the lion on Czech heraldry dates back to the 12th century. Before then, the Saint Wenceslas flaming eagle was used on the Bohemian coat of arms. However, when King Vladislaus II displayed great courage and valor, Emperor Frederick updated the arms to include a lion. Youll note the lion has two tails on the current version of the arms. Initially, there was only one tail, but some suspect a second was added as recognition of King Otakars assistance in the fight against the Saxons.

  • 6th release in the Czech Lion series!
  • Mintage limited to 8,020 coins worldwide!
  • Consists of 1 Troy ounce of .999 pure silver.
  • Issued a face value of 2 Dollars from Niue Island.
  • The obverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II and a heraldic eagle.
  • On the reverse side is a regal lion design.

The obverse of 2022 1 oz Czech Lion Silver Coins depicts Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998 for the Royal Mint. It represents the 4th Generation portrait of the Queen used for coinage. The obverse design also includes the outline of a shield, as well as a heraldic eagle.

On the reverse field of the 2022 Niue Czech Lion Silver Coin is the portrait of a regal lion. This magnificent design includes the Crown of Saint Wenceslas resting atop the lions head. Youll also see Linden branch leaves along the edge in acknowledgment of the Czech Republics national tree. Along the lower edge of the coin are the words Ceska Republika, as well as the coins weight and purity.
