The Royal Mint’s David Bowie coin contains 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver, and it has a maximum mintage of 25,000. Time to make some “Changes” to your portfolio: spice up 2021 with the 2021 Great Britain 1 oz Silver Music Legends David Bowie Coin .999 Fine BU.

The first-ever Music Legends coin debuted in 2020 with Queen heralding the series, followed by Sir Elton John. Next up in the collection is the David Bowie coin in both silver and gold. Bowie recently passed away in January 2016, but during the course of his lifetime, he was an English singer-songwriter and actor. One of his most famous cult-classic films is Labyrinth. He is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century for being a pioneer in blending genres before it became a mainstream practice. He also famously paved the way for later generations of techno-rock. Bowie collaborated with other musical groups such as Queen, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, and more. He became one of the best-selling music artists of all time and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. The top songs the avant-garde artist created over the course of his lifetime included “Space Oddity”, “Ziggy Stardust”, “Heroes”, “Life on Mars”, “Let’s Dance”, “Ashes to Ashes”, and “Starman”. His final album Blackstar debuted in 2016, and he passed away two days later from complications due to liver cancer. Posthumously, his final album won British Album of the Year in 2017, and he also won five Grammy Awards the same year.

The obverse of the coin features Jody Clark’s rendition of Queen Elizabeth II wearing her royal crown and earrings. She is surrounded by inscriptions indicating the coin’s denomination and her name.

The reverse of this coin spotlights a portrait of David Bowie looking to his right while wearing a pop-collar jacket. The background features a lightning bolt design with stars to pay homage to Ziggy Stardust. “Bowie” appears on the bottom right of the coin. The border repeats the coin’s denomination, purity, and year as an added security measure.

This coin has then been ennobled with multiple techniques to bring this music legend to life!
