Durga, the divine mother in the Hindu religion, is depicted as a woman with a lion, with numerous arms holding various weapons. She represents creative force, renewal, endurance and struggle. She has both the power of creation and the power of destruction. She is immersed in an orderly, feminine, almost lunar universe, harmoniously enveloping the goddess, who towers sumptuously in the centre of the composition, around whom numerous lotus flowers take shape, a symbol of resilience, a plant that manages to thrive even in adverse conditions, reminding us that in life nothing is ever lost, and that it is precisely in difficulties that the capacity for rebirth and renewal must prevail.
