This coin has an intriguing design inspired by the samurai ethos. It opens us the pages of bushido – the code of conduct for Japan’s warrior classes from perhaps as early as the eighth century through modern times. In general, the Bushido code is a Japanese method of improving the body and spirit. The word “bushido” means “the way of the warrior”.
The artists of the “Bushido” coin were inspired by the life path of samurai while creating it. This collectible item impresses us with elaborate decorations like high relief, selective gilding, digital printing.
The reverse of the coin depicts two tigers – a strong symbol in Japanese culture for strength and courage. One of the tigers is represented with selective gilding and is decorated with digital printing, instead of the other one, which is coloured in silver, is antiqued. The obverse of the coin portrays the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin comes in a themed box, which features a Japanese samurai, together with a Certificate of Authenticity. The mintage is limited to only 500 pieces for global distribution.
