Each 2021 1 oz Solomon Islands Silver Animals of Africa Lion Shaped Coin comes with beautiful packaging from the mint. The lion-shaped silver coins are housed inside of custom capsules and packaged in a themed shipper. Each coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and two important features.
First, the coins in this series are individually serialized. From the total mintage of 2,500 coins, you will find a unique serial number on the obverse field that is noted as a number from 0001 to 2500. Second, these coins are reverse-proof specimens. A reverse-proof coin has mirrored design elements with frosted background fields.
The African Lion release in the Animals of Africa Series is the second of the collection. The first design, that of a crocodile-shaped coin, is now sold out at the mint.
The obverse side of 2021 Solomon Islands Silver Animals of Africa Lion Shaped Coins comes with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in the popular 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley. This design first featured on British coins from 1998 to 2015 and has been used by the likes of Australia, New Zealand, Niue, Tokelau, and Tuvalu, to name a few.
On the reverse field of the 2021 1 oz Silver Animals of Africa Lion Shaped Coin is an image of the male lion. African lions represent the largest population of lions alive today, with only a small population living in an isolated region of western India. The male lion is instantly recognizable for its thick, shaggy mane. These silver coins are the first lion-shaped legal tender bullion coins in the world.
