The Perth Mint is pleased to present the Australian Kangaroo 2025 2oz Silver Proof Reverse Gilded Coin.

Beloved the world over, our signature coin series celebrates one of Australia’s most emblematic native animals. The coin’s reverse portrays a kangaroo lying on the ground, a restful position that helps it conserve energy during the hottest part of the day. The background and other artistic elements, including representations of a grass tree, are gilded in 24-karat gold. Also within the gilded area is inscription ‘KANGAROO’ and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, the design includes the coin’s weight, purity, 2025 year-date.

A pioneer of 24-karat gilding on modern numismatic coins, The Perth Mint is noted for releases featuring the selective application of this treatment on a coin’s central design motif. The reverse gilded concept switches this application to the background design details and in this case is also featured on the coin’s obverse.
