ANA Show Merges Fandom with Finance
The numismatic industry continues its growth trajectory, with analyses projecting the global coin collecting market to reach significant milestones by 2032. Market research indicates expansion is driven by increased interest in tangible assets, online trading platforms, and recognition of coins as both collectibles and alternative investments.

The $1.3 million attraction: APMEX’s 400-ounce gold bar draws crowds at the World’s Fair of Money, where attendees can hold over 27 pounds of pure gold.
“The modern commemorative market has evolved dramatically, attracting collectors who value artistic innovation and precious metal content,” noted Ginsburg. “We’re seeing exceptional demand for limited-edition mint releases, pop culture themed coins, and shaped coins that push minting boundaries. The Oklahoma City show lets collectors see these innovative pieces in person.”

World’s Fair of Money FAQs
What makes the 2025 ANA World’s Fair of Money in Oklahoma City special?
The 2025 event marks the first time in the ANA’s 134-year history that the World’s Fair of Money will be held in Oklahoma City. Running August 19-23 at the Oklahoma City Convention Center (100 Mick Cornett Drive), this historic convention features a unique Oklahoma-themed convention medal depicting “a bold bison and a watchful warrior.” Attendees will get an exclusive first preview of the new Oklahoma Goldback series before its August 25 official release, and the U.S. Mint will offer limited releases including the first-ever laser-engraved privy mark on a 2025-W American Eagle Silver Proof Coin.
What special exhibits and commemoratives will be featured in 2025?
The 2025 show will showcase extraordinary numismatic treasures including the 1907 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle from the Tyrant Collection, a reunited pair of unique 1844 $5 and $10 Proof Gold coins minted in New Orleans (displayed together for the first time in a century), and a 1913 Liberty Head Nickel (one of only five known). Minted Assets will distribute approximately 250 limited-edition legal tender coins daily starting at 1:00 PM, featuring Joel Iskowitz’s design combining Oklahoma landmarks with the ANA logo under the theme “NOMISMA.”
When did the ANA World’s Fair of Money begin and how has it evolved?
The “World’s Fair of Money” branding launched in 1978 when the American Numismatic Association expanded from one annual convention to two shows per year – the summer World’s Fair of Money and the spring National Money Show. However, the ANA has held conventions since 1891, making it one of the longest-running numismatic organizations globally. Between 2011-2012, the organization briefly experimented with three shows annually before returning to the current two-show format in 2013.
How many people typically attend and how many dealers participate?
Recent conventions attract 8,000-10,000 attendees, with the 2024 Chicago show drawing over 9,000 numismatists. Dealer participation ranges from 500 to 1,300+ exhibitors depending on venue, with the 2024 event featuring 1,359 dealers and 15 world mints across 505 bourse tables. This makes it “by far the most important rare coin convention held each year in the United States,” comparable only to the Florida United Numismatists (FUN) winter show in terms of dealer participation and significance.
What makes this different from other major coin shows?
The World’s Fair of Money distinguishes itself through unmatched educational programming including technical seminars and the Money Talks series, museum-quality exhibits featuring multi-million dollar displays, official partnerships with major auction houses generating over $75 million in sales, and direct U.S. Mint participation with exclusive product releases. The show’s federal recognition through the ANA’s 1912 congressional charter and its role hosting the international Coin of the Year (COTY) awards ceremony further elevate its status above commercial coin shows.
Who typically attends the World’s Fair of Money?
The convention attracts a diverse international audience including novice collectors and families exploring the hobby, experienced numismatists and academic researchers, professional coin dealers (500+ exhibitors), auction house representatives from major firms, grading service professionals from PCGS, NGC, and ANACS, mint officials from the U.S. and international mints, specialty organization members, and numismatic authors and educators. Recent shows have drawn attendees from over 40 states and numerous foreign countries.
Where will the 2026 World’s Fair of Money be held?
The 2026 convention returns to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center (1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd) from August 25-29. Pittsburgh previously hosted successfully in 2023, and the ANA Board has discussed potential scheduling adjustments to attract more international dealers and mints. Plans include continuing the successful format of multi-million dollar exhibits, comprehensive educational programming, and major auction partnerships that have defined recent conventions.
