Struck by The Perth Mint from 0.5g of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The coin’s reverse portrays a large kangaroo about to leap over a parched creek bed, with a windmill and water storage tank in the background. As well as the inscription ‘KANGAROO’, the design includes the coin’s weight, purity, 2024 year-date, and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.
The coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
The 2024 Mini Roo coin is housed in a protective acrylic capsule and presented in a wallet-sized card.
