Introduced in 1990, the Australian Kookaburra is an enduringly popular silver coin series portraying annual artistry of one of our most recognisable birds. Famed for its raucous laughing call, the beady-eyed kookaburra is heard across the nation – from the outback to the back yard.
The coin portrays a kookaburra perched on an ornamental bird bath among Agapanthus, flowering plants regularly seen in Australian gardens. Together with the coin’s rims and serrated edge, the bird is superbly gilded in 24-carat gold. Also in the design is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid, and a beautifully illustrated shipper.
