2022 Tokelau Terra 1oz Silver Proof-Like Coin

The obverse of the 2022 Tokelau Terra Silver Coin presents a small version of the Ian Rank-Broadley 1998 effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. She’s situated in a small circle settled into the Pacific Ocean area of the map in the background. The map itself is a patterned look at the Pacific region, including Asia, Oceania, and Australia. The border is a compass gauge with measurements of degrees from 0 through 360. The inscriptions within that decorative border spell out the queen’s name, the country, year, and denomination of the coin and the theme of Terra. Terra is a Latin, Italian, and Portuguese word that means land or Earth.

The reverse of the coin carries the world map design over, this time depicting the other side of the globe and the Atlantic ocean. Parts of Europe, North and South Americas and Africa are presented in the same paisley pattern as used on the obverse. Gridlines crisscross the ocean and a stunning compass rose figure is included. The border of the reverse also includes the compass numbers and Terra 2022 inscription along with details of the metal weight and purity of the coin. The Latin phrase Serva Me, Servabo Te is included, which means protect (or save) me and I will protect (or save) you. It’s a reminder that Earth is humankind’s home and protector, but that humanity must also protect the planet that provides for it.
