The Wonderful World of Disney is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023 and there are countless numismatic coin issues to mark this monumental occasion. One of the most popular figures in Disney animation history is the focal point of a wide range of coins: Mickey Mouse.

Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse of 2023 1/2 Gram Proof Gold Disney 100 Years of Wonder Mickey Mouse Coins. Her Late Majesty is featured here in right-profile relief in a 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley. The image shows the Queen with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.

Mickey Mouse is found on the reverse of 2023 Proof Solomon Islands Gold Mickey Mouse Coins. Mickey made his color debut in the cartoon “The Band Concert” in 1935. This was also the first Mickey Mouse cartoon to be released in color. Up until then, Mickey had been seen only in black and white.
