Struck from 2oz of silver, this year’s Christmas coin incorporates a remarkable centerpiece which tinkles like one of Santa’s sleigh bells!
Traditionally, jingle bells were attached to horses as adornments. More practically, they provided advanced warning to pedestrians, especially in winter when horse-drawn sleighs could be difficult to hear or bring to a halt. In popular culture, the sound of jingle bells (also known as sleigh bells) herald the approach of Santa Clause in a reindeer-drawn sleigh on Christmas Eve.
Featuring an antiqued surface treatment, the coin portrays a Christmas wreath decorated with gold colored decorative baubles, candy canes and Christmas berries. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark is also included in the design. Encased in the coin’s center is a 24-carat gold-plated jingle bell sure to fascinate children of all ages!
