Description
2026 $15 Clan Animals: Otter ¾ oz Silver Coin – Royal Canadian Mint
The 2026 $15 Clan Animals: Otter Silver Coin completes the meaningful three-coin Clan Animals series from the Royal Canadian Mint. This final release honors Nigig (the Otter), a symbol of joy, connection, and emotional balance within Anishinabek teachings. Through its vibrant design and cultural meaning, the coin celebrates the role of play, healing, and community in sustaining harmony.
Struck from ¾ oz (23.17 g) of 99.99% pure silver, the coin features a brilliant proof finish with selective color. In addition, the Royal Canadian Mint has limited the mintage to 10,000 coins worldwide. Therefore, this final issue holds special significance for collectors completing the series.
Nigig – Symbol of Joy and Balance
In Anishinabek tradition, Nigig represents joy, kinship, and emotional healing. The otter moves gracefully through water and reminds people that lightness and laughter hold an important place in life. Because of this symbolism, Nigig teaches that joy itself can help restore harmony and strengthen communities.
The reverse design captures this spirit through bold shapes and expressive color. Artist Mark V. Nadjiwan created the artwork for the coin. Nadjiwan is a member of Neyaashiinigmiing Unceded First Nation near Owen Sound, Ontario. This series also marks his first collaboration with the Royal Canadian Mint.
The design features a striking red sun and blue water, combined with soft earth tones. As a result, the composition reflects both the natural world and the flowing movement of water where the otter thrives.
Final Release in the Clan Animals Series
This coin serves as the third and final release in the Clan Animals series. Each coin in the collection honors an animal that plays an important role in Anishinabek cultural teachings. Together, the three designs highlight the deep connection between community, nature, and spiritual guidance.
Because this coin completes the set, many collectors seek it alongside the Sandhill Crane and Bear releases from the same series.
Premium Silver Coin with Elegant Presentation
The coin measures 36.07 mm in diameter and features a serrated edge. The obverse displays the portrait of King Charles III, designed by Steven Rosati. It also carries a $15 CAD face value backed by the Government of Canada.
Each coin arrives in a black clamshell presentation case with a black beauty box. This packaging protects the coin while also providing an elegant display for collectors.
With its limited mintage, meaningful symbolism, and high-purity silver, the 2026 Clan Animals: Otter Silver Coin offers a fitting conclusion to this thoughtful Royal Canadian Mint series.
