Description
2026 $20 Crown Jewels: Baring Ruby Necklace 1 oz Silver Coin – Royal Canadian Mint
The 2026 $20 Crown Jewels: Baring Ruby Necklace Silver Coin honors one of the most admired pieces in Queen Elizabeth II’s royal jewelry collection. This stunning collectible marks the third release in the Royal Canadian Mint’s Crown Jewels series and celebrates the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth. As a result, the coin blends historic royal symbolism with elegant jewelry-inspired craftsmanship.
Struck from 1 oz (31.39 g) of 99.99% pure silver, the coin features a proof finish and exquisite decorative enhancements. In addition, the design includes 20 ruby-toned crystals and 27 white crystals set in .925 sterling silver jewelry mountings with a protective rhodium plating. Because of these premium details and a limited mintage of 6,000 coins worldwide, this release stands out as both a luxury collectible and a tribute to royal history.
Inspired by the Legendary Baring Ruby Necklace
The coin’s design draws inspiration from the Baring Ruby Necklace, which Queen Elizabeth II acquired in 1964. The necklace quickly became one of the most recognized ruby pieces in her personal collection. Over the years, the Queen wore it at many diplomatic events and formal state occasions.
One particularly memorable moment occurred in 1977, when the Queen opened Canada’s Parliament in Ottawa. During the ceremony, the vivid rubies echoed the red tones of Canada’s national colors. Because of this connection, the necklace became closely associated with her enduring relationship with Canada.
The coin’s reverse, designed by Anna Bucciarelli, reimagines the necklace in two key elements. The neckline and central pendant appear as separate design components that flow naturally within the circular coin shape. Meanwhile, clusters of crystals recreate the brilliance of the original ruby-and-diamond arrangement.
Elegant Craftsmanship and Symbolic Details
The design also features delicate engraved filigree scrollwork that includes both the Canadian maple leaf and the Tudor rose. These symbols highlight the historic relationship between Canada and the British Crown. In addition, the crystal accents create flashes of red and white that reflect Canada’s national colors.
The obverse of the coin features the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, originally used from 2003 to 2023. Its return on this coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the late monarch’s birth. The portrait was designed by Steven Rosati.
Limited Royal Canadian Mint Collectible
The coin measures 38 mm in diameter and features a serrated edge. Each piece carries a $20 CAD face value backed by the Government of Canada. Furthermore, every coin arrives in a black clamshell presentation case with a black beauty box, ensuring elegant display and secure storage.
With its precious metal content, crystal jewelry enhancements, and limited mintage, the 2026 Crown Jewels: Baring Ruby Necklace Silver Coin offers a remarkable tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s timeless elegance and enduring legacy.
