Mexican Gold Libertad Coins
Mexican Gold Libertad coins are a celebrated bullion series from the oldest mint in the Americas, La Casa de Moneda de México. Collectors and investors alike highly seek these coins. This is due to their stunning design, high purity, and limited, variable mintages.
The coins are struck from .999 fine gold. Unlike most other national bullion coins, they do not have a fixed face value. The Mexican government, however, guarantees them based on their gold content.
The Design
- Obverse: This side features the Mexican National Shield. The shield has a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a snake. It also includes the inscription “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” (United Mexican States). The 1 oz coin also features ten historic versions of the national seal. They surround the central design.
- Reverse: This side is inspired by the 1921 gold Centenario. It depicts the Winged Victoria, or Angel of Independence. The volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl are in the background.
